It's no secret the United States government has a long history of strained relations with the Cuban government, misinformation, and an embargo that hurts the Cubans we love!  But, we can be a force for good for when we help conserve their environment, visit their homes, build lasting friendships, and spread love & truth for the real Cuba. Ask anyone who has visited with CUBA SCUBA and you'll see  nothing which resembles work- only fun, connection and playing a small part in these noble, grassroots programs where locals have taken initiative.

Plus, now shopping for souvenirs gives back too! 


It's a WIN-WIN knowing that 25% of all proceeds go to our Cuba Humanitarian fund managed by Broadway Christian Church (501c3). Broadway and CUBA SCUBA work together to steward these funds to directly benefit the Cuban People involved in many community projects on CUBA SCUBA's itineraries including:

    Havana projects:

    • Community Artist Project
      • Providing materials for local children's art classes & adult art projects to introduce marine conservation themes and ocean inspired art (in film, music, dance & art) - about 150 people
      • Organizing local Havana artists to travel with our group to snorkel and dive with in Guanahacabibes to develop art with the underwater conservation message - about 20 artists.
    • Local Elementary School
      • Supporting the sourcing of a new sound (PA) system
      • Providing student school supplies & teaching supplies - about 525 people

    • English Class sponsored by the Cuban Church
      • providing resources to help locals learn English from a local Cuban Christian church to improve opportunities to better support their families - about 100 people

    Pinar del Rio projects:

      • Guanahacabibes National Marine Park
        • Raise funds to purchase and bring 30 new coastal bikes to implement a biologist led ecological tour of the national park and also provide direct revenue to the village residence through a bike rental program to guests. - about 300 people
        • Providing supplies for the marine biologist team of 40 people
        • Co-sponsoring materials for conservation events while supporting the building of trust in the friendship of our two countries

      •  Maria la Gorda
        • Providing supplies & toiletries for local village families - about 70 people
        • Co-sponsoring the start-up for a bicycle rental business for these village
        • Gifting toiletries & household items to Maria la Gorda dive team - 11 families

      Camaguey projects:

      • Community Doll-maker Project
        • Providing materials and resources to support the local creation of hand made dolls for Cuban children in the hospital with cancer - about 100 families

      • Environmental Children's Art Class
        • Providing art materials to an UNESCO award winning local artist. CUBA SCUBA has come along side this artist to support her teaching Cuban children and their families about their local marine environment and celebrate it through her environmentally themed art class - about 25 families
      Santa Lucia / Nuevitas projects:
      • Shark Conservation Project
        • Providing resources to assist local Marine biologist team in gathering research data
        • Gifting toiletries and household items to Santa Lucia dive team - about 8 families

      Holguin Projects:

      • Cuban Church Building Project
        • Our cornerstone humanitarian project that Broadway Christian  Church (501c3) and CUBA SCUBA have been co-sponsoring since 2015 to help a vibrant local congregation build their first church building.
          • To date, more than $17,000 USD has been raised ($5,000 by the Cubans themselves) Gloria a Dios! - about 350 families. 
        • Small investments to help local congregation members with their own start-up business to help their families. Including:
          • ovens for a bakery businesses
          • resources for a local worship team to record their own album

      Santiago Projects:

      • Cayo Village Marine Conservation Project
        • Providing materials and gear to local UNESCO award winning underwater archaeologist organization. CUBA SCUBA has come alongside to support their grassroots program to transform the perspectives of the children - about 100 village families
